According to the Kazakhstani Criminal Code, criminal conviction can be sealed upon the completion of a sentence, nevertheless, the certificate will reflect the criminal record history. The certificate can be stamped with 3 types of stamps. In most cases, when an individual has a "clean" record, the certificate is marked with "no record found" ("svedeniy net"), date and name stamps; special attention must be paid to a square-framed "information checked by #2" ("anyktama bergen #2) stamp which hits at a sealed criminal record in the past. Some records go back as far as 55 years. Records available in Russian language only. Fee: 600 KZT (USD 4). Paper archive records were computerized, therefore processing time is reportedly a maximum of 5 business days.
